TCYSA Tryouts FAQ's

Our child has been playing with older players. How do we decide which age group to have her try out with?

Although playing up – or playing in an older age group – is discouraged by TCYSA, there is some flexibility, particularly in the Challenge division. Having said that, each player must register for tryouts using the date of birth on his or her birth certificate. This will be checked at tryouts. If your child’s birth date does not match the date provided during online registration, there is the possibility that he or she will not be evaluated in time to be selected for a team.

All requests to play up must be approved by the Director of Coaching or one of his assistants, however, before a child can be moved to the desired age group.

It’s also helpful to remember that it is likely that your child will be moved to the appropriate age group if he or she makes a Classic team.
