TCYSA Unveils Plans for New Soccer Facility

TCYSA is happy and excited to announce that we have purchased 90 acres of land west of the Yadkin River off U.S. 158 in Davie County for our new soccer facility! The first phase of work will begin immediately. We hope that given good weather and hard-working sub-contractors at least 10 fields will be ready for play in Fall 2006. Many folks from both the Challenge and Classic divisions have worked countless hours during the last nine months to make this opportunity a reality. Of those, we must specifically thank Scott Miller, Challenge and Classic’s field coordinator, Pete Polonsky, vice president of Classic, and Lynne Holton who provided our legal counsel for this transaction. We also wish to thank members of our Capital Campaign Planning Committee who worked on a feasibility study with Whitney Jones, Inc. They include: Jon Abramson, Dave Abbruzzese, Mark Evans, Robert Duncan Hite, David Neill, Cathy Pace, Chris Pearce, Betty Quick and Rob Showfety.
Our TCYSA families are welcome to attend the ground-breaking ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, March 31. If you do attend, we ask that you treat this as you would any soccer game and arrive at least 15 minutes early. (We will close the entrance at 3:55 p.m. to allow the dust and noise to settle before the ceremony begins.) The event will be cancelled if it is raining. (And you know the routine: Check the website before leaving home!) If you can’t make the ceremony, don’t worry. We plan to have a grand-opening celebration for TCYSA families in the fall.
